{"id":138,"date":"2009-11-09T01:16:07","date_gmt":"2009-11-09T09:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hongyu.org\/wordpress\/?p=138"},"modified":"2009-11-15T01:53:13","modified_gmt":"2009-11-15T09:53:13","slug":"add-centos-linux-guest-os-to-virtualbox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hongyu.org\/wordpress\/?p=138","title":{"rendered":"Add CentOS Linux guest OS to virtualbox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During my installation of a CentOS Linux guest OS on my Windows XP host system, I found most steps are pretty straightforward according to the manual, but there are a few places costing me some time to do research on Google.<\/p>\n<p>1) To install the guest addition kit, I have to find and mount the image file VBoxGuestAdditions.iso under the virtualbox program root folder, but then I met this error when running &#8220;sh VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><em>Guest Additions installation<br \/>\nPlease install the build and header files for your current Linux kernel.<br \/>\nThe current kernel version is 2.6.18-164.el5<br \/>\nProblems were found which would prevent the Guest Additions from installing.<br \/>\nPlease correct these problems and try again.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After trying multiple solutions on Google, the following solution worked for me, i.e, by running:<br \/>\ninstall kernel-devel-`uname -r`<\/p>\n<p>2) X-windows size is too small, maximumly only 800&#215;600.
